A lumen is a unit of luminous flux. Point light source with intensity of 1 candela (CD) and luminous flux of“1 lumen” in unit stereo angle (1 spherical degree).

An average 40-watt incandescent bulb emits about 10 lumens per watt, so it can emit 400 lumens of light. A 40-watt incandescent lamp has a luminous flux of 340 lumens at 220 volts. Luminous flux is the ability of a light source to produce a visual response per unit time, in lumens, also called luminance. The projector represents the luminous flux in ANSI lumens, ANSI lumen is the National Institute of Standardization’s standard for measuring projector light flux. It measures the luminance of each point on the screen at nine intersections, multiplies the area, and averages the nine points. This is the ANSI lumen of the projector. The higher the lumen value, the brighter it is, and the higher the brightness, the less the need to turn off the light when projecting. ANSI stands for American National Standards Institute (American National Standards Institute).

This quantity is the light source, is described the size of the total amount of light, and light power equivalent.

The greater the luminous flux of the light source, the more lights it emits. F = 4πis for isotropic light (that is, light from a source emits at the same density in all directions) . In other words, if the light source I is 1 CD, the total luminous flux is 4π = 12.56 lm. Compared with mechanical units, the luminous flux corresponds to pressure and the luminous intensity corresponds to pressure. To make the point of illumination look brighter, we need not only to increase the luminous flux, but also to increase the means of convergence, which is actually to reduce the area, so that we can get more intensity.

Our company has in-house integrating sphere to test the lumens. We updates news and new products from time to time. You can find OEM metal flashlights, LED rechargeable headlamps, COB work lights, and other various products on our website.
